HC Deb 05 November 1974 vol 880 cc102-3W
Mr. Carter Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what progress has been made with the National Health Service behind-the-ear hearing aids for adults.

Mr. Alfred Morris

The new hearing aid became available on 1st November for people in the priority categories announced last year, that is, war pensioners, mothers with young children, children and young people up to age 18 —21 if still receiving full-time education —those whose head-worn aids were replaced by bodyworn models when they left school and people with exceptional medical need or an additional severe handicap, such as blindness. We hope to be able to increase the categories of those eligible during next year.
