HC Deb 05 November 1974 vol 880 cc92-3W
25. Mr. Ward

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will undertake during the present Session to introduce a Bill to bring agricultural work-people within the scope of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.

28. Miss Maynard

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will introduce legislation to bring agricultural workers within the scope of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act.

Mr. Harold Walker

Agricultural workers are already within the scope of the Act, although provisions relating exclusively to agricultural matters are the responsibility of the Agriculture Ministers. However, as foreshadowed by the Consultative Document, the Employment Protection Bill will amend the Act to give the Health and Safety Commission responsibilities for health and safety matters relating exclusively to agriculture. As already announced, the Bill will be introducted during the present Session of Parliament.
