HC Deb 04 November 1974 vol 880 cc47-8W
Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the maximum period for which a single unemployed person will receive income tax rebates, assuming gross weekly earnings of (a) £20, (b) £25, (c) £30, (d) £35, (e) £40, (f) £45, (g) £50, (h) £55, and (i) £60, and that the previous year's earnings were 15 per cent. lower.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

The weekly rate of income tax rebate for a single person for 1974–75 is approximately £4 and is independent of the previous year's income. The figures are:—

Weekly earnings and maximum number of weeks for which rebate will run
£
20 20
25 26
30 30
35 34
40 36
45 38
50 39
55 40
60 41
