HC Deb 04 November 1974 vol 880 cc78-9W
Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what advice has been issued to police authorities in the United Kingdom to set up special crowd control units; and whether the police authorities have been advised as to whether such units should be used to control picketing and political demonstrations.

Dr. Summerskill

My hon. Friend may have in mind the arrangements for police forces in England and Wales to supply reinforcements to one another. These are standing arrangements which may be implemented whenever circumstances make it necessary to do so. There has been no recent change of policy or practice.
