§ Mr. Michael Lathamasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what proportional addition to the construction industry's workload is represented by the Government's decision to increase public sector construction work in 1975–77 by £120 million; and how this compares, in real terms, with reductions made since May 1973.
§ Mr. FreesonAt current levels of output, £120 million represents about 1 percent. of the annual workload of the construction industry. The reductions in public sector construction work announced since May 1973 have been in terms of expenditure in 1973–74 and 1974–75 and cannot readily be compared to additional work for subsequent periods.
