HC Deb 24 May 1974 vol 874 cc324-5W
Mr. Spriggs

asked the Secretary of Slate for Social Services if she will refer to the special subcommittee on immunisation the case of Mrs. M. Noonan, 42 O'Brien Grove, St. Helens, whose child was vaccinated with the whooping cough vaccine when her daughter was six months old, and although twitching of the body was observed almost immediately following vaccination she was unable to obtain definite medical opinion about the cause, and after nearly five years her child is unable to speak, and ask the committee to consider the question of compensation in all such cases.

Dr. Owen

The function of the new subcommittee will be to review information rather than to adjudicate on individual cases or to consider the question of compensation.
