§ Sir W. Elliottasked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the number of men, women and young persons registered as unemployed in the Northern Region on 30th April.
§ Mr. John FraserOn 13th May, the nearest date for which information is available, there were 46,600 males and 8,308 females unemployed. The figures are provisional. Revisions have been made to the boundaries of some of the standard regions including the North Region. The revisions were referred to in the announcement made by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment on 3rd April 1974. Because of recent changes in the organisation of the employment services separate figures for adults and young people will now be available only for January and July each year when detailed age analyses are compiled.
