HC Deb 24 May 1974 vol 874 cc295-6W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will consider implementing, for the purpose of the North Sea, a system analogous to the common agricul- tural policy in reference to both oil and natural gas produced and exported to Community partners.

Mr. Strang

The arrangements to be made for the exploitation of the oil and gas reserves on the United Kingdom Continental Shelf are under review. A number of options is being considered.

Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he intends to set up a posted price for North Sea oil.

Mr. Strang

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to his similar Question on 20th March 1974.—[Vol. 870, c.123.]

Mr. MacFarlane

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if the Government intend to export North Sea oil in a refined state, or if it is their intention to export crude only.

Mr. Strang

The advantages of exporting refined products rather than crude is one of the factors we shall take into account in considering how maximum benefit may be derived from the exploitation of North Sea oil.
