asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will publish the number of stoppages where the principal cause was other than pay in each of the last 10 years and the number of days lost in such disputes.

Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the purpose, and what will be the practical effect, so far as concerns statistics relating to industrial disputes in the steel industry, of the arrangements that have been made to identify stoppages in the public sector from 1973.

Mr. Booth

The purpose and practical effect of the arrangements which have been made are that figures for 1973 relating to the steel industry can be produced in a few weeks' time. As soon as they become available I will send them to the hon. Member.
