HC Deb 24 May 1974 vol 874 cc301-2W
Sir Frederic Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has made to the Brazilian Government in regard to the servicing of military equipment by wholly-owned subsidiaries of British-owned nationalised industries, on behalf of countries to which it is declared British policy to ban all further arms contracts.

Mr. Hattersley

None. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Industry has, however, made it clear to- Rolls-Royce (71) that the Government do not wish any of Rolls-Royce subsidiaries to take over any of the work for which contracts are to be terminated.

Sir Frederic Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the policy of Her Majesty's Government in regard to the sales of arms and military equipment to Brazil.

Mr. Hattersley

The policy of Her Majesty's Government in this respect remains the same as that followed by previous administrations.
