HC Deb 24 May 1974 vol 874 cc321-2W
Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection what representations he has had from the Bakers' Federation on the situation of independent bakers; and what plans he has to seek to safeguard the existence of independent plant bakers.

Mr. Maclennan

We have received representations from the Federation of Bakers about the decline in the profitability of the plant baking industry as a result of the operation of the Price Code. We have agreed to consider these representations in the context of the general review of the Price Code which we shall be undertaking over the next few months.
