§ Mr. Farrasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) what steps he will be taking in relation to EEC Directive 118–71; and what consultations he has had to amend certain requirements therein relating to hygiene;
(2) what discussions he is having in relation to EEC proposals to ban the use of spin chillers in poultry meat processing.
§ Mr. MoyleWe are in continuing consultation with the industry and other interests about the terms of Directive 71/118/EEC and proposed amendments to it. A number of issues including those relating to hygiene requirements and the continued use of spin chillers are currently being pursued in Brussels.
