HC Deb 23 May 1974 vol 874 c220W
Mr. Robert Taylor

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the net amount remaining, after deduction of tax, to a married man without dependants from a salary of £34,000 per annum, assuming that the recipient's basic income is a pension of £7,000 per annum.

Dr. Gilbert

Assuming that the salary is treated as the top slice of the individual's total income and that there are no other allowances, the net amount after tax at the rates proposed by the Finance Bill for 1974–75 is £8,648.
