asked the Lord President of the Council if he will make a statement about the Government's proposals for devolution.

§ Mr. Edward Short
As I said in my reply to the hon. Member for Caernarvon (Mr. Wigley) on 17th May, we intend to bring forward our proposals in the autumn. In the meantime, as promised, the Government are about to initiate consultations in Scotland and Wales on the basis of a consultative document which we expect to publish during the week commencing 3rd June.
