HC Deb 23 May 1974 vol 874 c256W
Mr. Kenneth Clarke

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what representations Her Majesty's Government have made to the Government of Denmark about their increases in purchase tax on cars and household equipment.

Mr. Deakins

We have actively participated in discussion of these measures with other members of the Community, including Denmark herself. While we are concerned that action has been taken which will affect her imports, including some from Britain, we sympathise with Denmark's persistent economic difficulties and recognise her need to take further short-term action to help restore equilibrium.
