HC Deb 23 May 1974 vol 874 cc274-6W
Mr. Russell Johnston

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he expects that work on strengthening runways at Dalcross Airport, Inverness, to allow it to take jet aircraft will be completed.

Mr. Clinton Davis

I have been asked to reply.

The Civil Aviation Authority, which owns and manages this airport, advises me that its contract provides for the improvement of the main runway to be completed by the end of October 1974. However, the supply of cement is presently affected by an industrial dispute and it is not yet possible to forecast whether this will affect the date of completion of the work.
