HC Deb 22 May 1974 vol 874 c196W
Mr. Body

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether she will give a list of those cheeses of which any substantial quantity is eaten in the United Kingdom and in respect of which a consumer subsidy is not to be paid.

Mr. Maclennan

The subsidy arrangements are estimated to cover nearly 95 per cent, of consumption of cheese in the United Kingdom. Precise information is not available on the consumption of the non-eligible cheeses, but it would seem that no single excluded variety accounts for a significant proportion of total supplies.
