HC Deb 21 May 1974 vol 874 cc75-6W
38. Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he is satisfied with the effectiveness of the Wages Inspectorate.

Mr. Harold Walker

Yes. The Inspectorate meets its obligations to investigate all complaints alleging breaches of the Wages Council Regulations and inspects each year a proportion of establishments in each of the wages council trades.

Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the establishment of the Wages Inspectorate, and what is the number in post.

Mr. Harold Walker

The establishment of the Wages Inspectorate is comprised of the Chief Wages Inspector—with the rank of senior principal—17 senior executive officers, 148 executive and higher executive officers and 88 clerical officers and clerical assistants, a total of 254. At present 242 of these posts are filled.
