§ Sir Bernard Braineasked the Secretary of State for the Environment, in view of the rejection by the House of Commons of the Burmah Total Refinery Bill, he will now reconsider his decision not to proceed with an interdepartmental inquiry into the economic, social and environmental implications of industrial development in the Thames Estuary, with particular reference to the proliferation of oil refineries in or near to Canvey Island.
