HC Deb 21 May 1974 vol 874 cc118-9W
Mr. Loveridge

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many departments of business studies there are in universities in the United Kingdom; and how many are planned to be opened in the next five years.

Mr. Gerry Fowler

There are 25, including separate institutions or centres. There are no plans at present for establishing new departments, but provision has been made in the 1972–77 quinquennium for a substantially faster rate of expansion of places in business studies than the average rate of growth for university places as a whole.
