HC Deb 20 May 1974 vol 874 c1W
7 . Mr. Fletcher-Cooke

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if she will take action to alleviate the problems of British manufacturers who are unable to obtain raw materials in the United Kingdom owing to price control since their normal supplies are being sold abroad at market prices.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

British manufacturers are not alone in having difficulties over supplies of industrial materials. I am proposing to review the operation of the Price Code and will consider action if it is in the national interest and if it is demonstrated that our domestic price controls are causing supplies normally for the home market to be diverted abroad.
