asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in the absence of the customary Defence Review which takes place in the spring of each year, it is intended to debate the state of our defences pending the review promised by the Minister of Defence.

A debate on Defence would be most useful when the current review of Defence commitments, capabilities and resources has been completed later in the year, and the Government's conclusions announced.
