HL Deb 09 May 1974 vol 351 c728WA
THE EARL OF HARROWBY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether any steps have been, are being, or will be taken to prevent nationals of any Arab States or unscreened Irish personnel from working on the North Sea or Irish Sea oil rigs or on any subsidiary aspects of these projects.

LORD JACQUES

No, but any person who passes through the United Kingdom immigration control is subject to scrutiny. We cannot check those who work on oil rigs but do not pass through the United Kingdom but it is for the operators of rigs to satisfy themselves about their employees.

House adjourned at four minutes past eight o'clock.
