HC Deb 03 May 1974 vol 872 cc594-5W
Mr. Nicholas Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if steps have been taken to ensure that all hospital authorities in Wales have designated an officer and a deputy to deal with travelling expenses at hospital level as recommended by the report on the cost of travelling to hospital.

Mr. John Morris

The Welsh Hospital Board commended the report to all hospital management committees in Wales. It is the duty of area health authorities now to ensure that satisfactory arrangements exist on this matter.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make arrangements for the wide distribution of a leaflet, poster and administrative guidance on cost of travel to hospitals in Wales.

Mr. John Morris

This has already been done. The Welsh Hospital Board produced 100,000 leaflets and 10,000 posters and stocks were distributed to all hospital management committees and local health authorities in Wales. Copies were also provided for distribution to local social security offices and for use in general practitioners' surgeries.
