HC Deb 03 May 1974 vol 872 c334W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland to what use Hillsborough House is being put.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

Apartments in the house are kept available for the use of members of the Royal Family and investitures continue to be held there. It is for the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland to decide on the use to which the house is put, and permission was given for a meeting to be held there between members of the Northern Ireland Executive and Ministers of the Irish Republic last February. In addition, the house is permitted to be used from time to time for meetings of welfare or charitable organisations.
