HC Deb 03 May 1974 vol 872 c239W
35. Mr. Cormack

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will make a special sum available for the purpose of preventing the further spread of Dutch elm disease.

Mr. Moyle

There is no realistic way of controlling the disease in the badly affected areas. We are putting in hand measures announced by the previous Government which may help to contain the disease in the lightly affected parts of the country, but my right hon. Friend does not consider it necessary to make special financial provision.
