§ Mr. John Mooreasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the United Kingdom's attitude towards its rights in international law to allow the United States of America to develop a base on the island of Diego Garcia.
§ Mr. HattersleyThe island of Diego Garcia is British sovereign territory. As regards the rights of the United Kingdom 327W and the United States to establish defence facilities on the island, this is governed by the 1966 British Indian Ocean Territory Agreement (Cmnd 3231).
