§ Mr. Tierneyasked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will seek to extend the provisions of the Land Compensation Act 1973 to include those people affected by aircraft noise.
§ Mr. Clinton DavisThe Act already contains provision for compensation to be paid in respect of the effect of aircraft noise in certain circumstances. Extension of the existing provisions in the Act, for example in the way proposed in the recently published Noise Advisory Council's report on the routing of aircraft on departure, has potentially far-reaching implications which may well present substantial difficulties. This aspect of the report will require the most careful consideration.
