HC Deb 02 May 1974 vol 872 c518W
Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if, in view of the difficulties encountered, and expense incurred, by members of the RUC due to the present conditions in Northern Ireland, he will take steps to subsidise their insurance premiums, to, at least, the same extent as that enjoyed by RAF personnel.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

I understand that some insurance companies are willing to offer cover at reasonable premiums to individual members of the RUC wishing to take out life insurance policies. Some difficulty is being experienced in relation to group life and accident assurance schemes for members of the RUC and this is being considered by the Police Authority. I shall keep the matter under review.
