§ Mr. John SilkinWith the reorganisation of local government into larger units, it is more important than ever to find ways of enabling those who live in urban areas to express a community point of view and influence more effectively the decisions made on their behalf by the main operational local authorities.
My right hon. Friend is therefore proposing to examine the operation of non-statutory bodies already established for this purpose with the object of opening consultations with the associations of local authorities and others on this important subject.
