HC Deb 02 May 1974 vol 872 c543W
Mr. Adam Hunter

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether it is his intention to proceed with the sale of Glenforsa Estate.

Mr. William Ross

I regard the efficient management of this estate, which has been in public ownership for a considerable period, as being of major importance to the agricultural economy of Mull. I have therefore decided to suspend the arrangements which were made by the previous administration for the sale of the estate and am considering what its best use would be in the context of the measures which are being taken by the Highlands and Islands Development Board to promote the social and economic development of the Island.
