HC Deb 02 May 1974 vol 872 c501W
2. Mr. Moate

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what percentage of the EEC budget the United Kingdom will be contributing annually, under present arrangements, after the transitional period; and what is his latest estimate of the actual cost in financial terms.

Mr. Dell

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs will be placing before the Council of Ministers forecasts of the United Kingdom's contribution to the budget under the full own-resources system when he makes his next statement to the Council on renegotiation. It would be wrong for me to anticipate his statement.

34. Mr. Jay

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what payments have been made by the United Kingdom to the EEC budget since 1st March 1974.

Mr. Joel Barnett

Approximately £31 million.

35. Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will discontinue further payments to the EEC budget while renegotiation is in progress.

Mr. Joel Barnett

No. I do not think that this would help to secure a successful renegotiation.
