HC Deb 02 May 1974 vol 872 c530W
Mrs. Chalker

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many men and women, separately, in the Wallasey area were registered under the Disabled Persons (Employment) Act of 1944 at the end of March 1973 and at the end of March 1974; and how many of them were in full-time and how many of them were in part-time employment at the end of March 1973 and at the end of March 1974.

Mr. Booth

1,177 men and 297 women in the area of Wallasey employment office were registered under the Act when figures were available in April 1973. Of these, 265 men and 47 women were known to be unemployed. Most of the remainder were probably in employment but it is impossible to give a precise figure. Corresponding figures for April 1974 were 1,168 men and 287 women of whom 209 men and 34 women were known to be unemployed. Information on part-time employment is not available.
