HC Deb 02 May 1974 vol 872 c503W
27. Mr. Ioan Evans

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what discussions he has had, and plans to have, with the Building Societies Association.

28. Mr. McCrindle

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what discussions he has had recently with the Building Societies Association.

Mr. Dell

Discussions with the Building Societies Association were held before Easter and my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment made a statement to the House on Wednesday 10th April. The Building Societies Association has subsequently announced its acceptance of the Government's offer of immediate short-term loan facilities of up to £100 million.

Mr. Carter

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will introduce legislation to prohibit building societies from nominating solicitors and insurance companies to borrowers.

Mr. Dell

I will let my hon. Friend have a reply as soon as possible.
