HC Deb 01 May 1974 vol 872 c470W
41. Mr. Harry Ewing

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what representations have been made to her to ensure that the greater needs of the underdeveloped countries should be recognised in the Government's renegotiation of the terms of entry into the EEC.

50. Mr. Blaker

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what meeting she expects to have with Ministers of the EEC.

Mrs. Hart

I returned today from a meeting of the Development Council of the Community where I met Ministers from the other EEC countries to discuss development co-operation questions. I told them that whilst we wish to bring the Protocol 22 negotiations to a successful conclusion we want to see the Community adopt more balanced aid policies to benefit not only associates but developing countries throughout the world, especially the poorest. These discussions are due to be continued next month. I am grateful for the many representations I have received supporting this policy of Her Majesty's Government.
