HC Deb 01 May 1974 vol 872 cc497-8W
Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the aggregate cost of supplementary benefit payments to those involved in industrial disputes at British Leyland, and to their dependants, respectively, including payments made after return to work and not so far recovered over the past six months.

Mr. Robert C. Brown

Because very few claims for supplementary benefit have been made, the precise information has not been recorded by my Department's local offices and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. But it is evid- ent that the amounts paid by way of supplementary benefit have been very small.
