asked the Secretary of State for Trade what form of inquiry is envisaged into the collision between a BAC1-11 airliner belonging to Court Line Aviation and a Piper Aztec light aircraft flown by the late Captain David Thompson at Luton Airport on 18th April 1974; and how soon he expects to be able to make an announcement.

The Chief Inspector of Accidents has ordered an inspector's investigation into the collision between a BAC1-11 and a Piper Aztec at Luton Airport on 18th April 1974, in accordance with the Civil Aviation (Investigation of Accidents) Regulations 1969. An announcement to this effect appeared inThe Times, Daily Telegraph and Luton Evening Post in their issues of 26th April, and an AIB bulletin setting out the salient facts of the accident will be issued by the Accidents Investigation Branch of my Department within a few days. When the investigation has been completed and the mandatory procedures complied with, a full report will be submitted to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State, who will then make a decision regarding its publication.
