HC Deb 29 March 1974 vol 871 c235W
Mr. Gwynoro Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on the present situation relating to the Carmarthen, St. Clears, Whitland, Llandeilo and Llandovery bypass schemes.

Mr. John Morris

I am currently considering an alternative route suggested by objectors to the published proposals for the Carmarthen southern bypass which, if adopted, would have repercussions for planned trunk road improvements over a wide area. I shall then resume preparation of the bypass proposals for Carmarthen and Llandeilo. Llandovery bypass is the subject of a feasibility study with a view to the possible inclusion of a suitable scheme in my trunk road preparation pool. Preparatory work is proceeding satisfactorily on the St. Clears and Whitland bypass schemes.
