HC Deb 29 March 1974 vol 871 cc231-2W
Mr. Money

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether she will take steps, in the light of the Sharp Report, to bring the existing arrangements for the provison of vehicles or private car allowances to the attention of disabled people throughout the country.

Mr. Alfred Morris

Leaflet NHS 5 about the vehicle service has had a wide circulation and is shortly to be re-issued to all general practitioners. The booklet "Help for Handicapped People", of which more than 2 million copies have been distributed so far, and which includes information about the service, is continuing to be issued through many channels. Furthermore, the provisions are widely known to organisations representing disabled people and those professionally responsible for their welfare. I will, however, consider whether further publicity is needed in the light of my overall review of the vehicle service.
