§ Mr. Staintonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, in view of the increasing cost of fertilisers and the wish of farmers to economise, what steps he is taking to ensure that up-to-date soil analyses are available in Suffolk, especially as regards potash and phosphate deficiencies.
§ Mr. MoyleSuffolk farmers may send field soil samples to the regional laboratory of the Agricultural Development and Advisory Service at Cambridge for analysis to determine for example pH value and lime requirement, available phosphorous, potassium, magnesium and soil texture. A small charge is made for this service. Similar services are available to growers in respect of glasshouse soils and composts.
