HL Deb 28 March 1974 vol 350 c799WA
LORD AVEBURY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will extend the restrictions on rent increases, as announced in the Queen's Speech, to the charges made for the occupation of pitches on residential caravan sites.

LORD GARNSWORTHY

The standstill effected by the Order made on March 8 is intended to apply to rents for dwellings, not to ground rents. Caravans let as dwellings are therefore covered. My honourable friend the Minister for Housing and Construction is considering the problem of site charges, but to extend the standstill to these would involve a number of complex issues, and could create more problems than it might solve.
