HC Deb 27 March 1974 vol 871 c125W
47. Mr. William Shelton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will expedite the decision as to whether the M23 motorway will be halted at Hooley or continued towards London; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Carmichael

A decision on the terminus of the M23 must be made in the context of the likely overall road pattern of London. As soon as a statement on the Layfield Panel's recommendations on the road proposals in the Greater London Development Plan is made urgent talks will take place with the GLC.
