HC Deb 26 March 1974 vol 871 c75W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations she has received to abolish prescription charges for women over 60 years of age and young persons remaining at school, particularly those remaining at school for the statutory period.

Dr. Owen

I am well aware of a fairly widespread feeling that these categories should be exempt from prescription charges, and have received representations from many different sources over the years. I am also aware of specific Early-Day Motions covering these categories placed on the Order Paper in the last Parliament.
