§ Sir Frederic Bennettasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many security incidents in Ulster have taken place in total and in categories of deaths, personal injuries and damage to property during the 91 days preceding the signing of the Sunningdale Agreement on 19th December 1973 and the 91 days following it.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesThe Sunningdale Conference ended on 9th December 1973. The best information available is that between 9th September and 8th December 1973, there were 2,272 security incidents resulting in 36 deaths and 393 injuries requiring hospital treatment. Comparable figures for the period 10th December 1973 to 9th March 1974 were 2,414, 44 and 434 respectively.
It would require disproportionate effort to provide details of property damage for the two periods.
