§ Mr. Foxasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether, in view of the shortages of building materials, he will extend the date deadline of 1st July 1974 under the Diseases of Animals (Waste Food) Order 1973 for the carrying out of improvements by pig farmers.
§ Mr. BuchanWe are aware of the difficulties that some farmers may experience because of shortages of building materials and we shall be reviewing the situation overall at the end of April but it is essential that swill collectors and processors meet the requirements of the 1973 order as quickly as possible. Even if it were decided to allow a transitional period for cases of genuine difficulty, the plant and premises must meet at least the standards set out in the current Diseases of Animals (Waste Food) Order 1957.
