34. Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Energy how many applications have been received to date under the provisions of Section 7(1) of the Local Employment Act 1972 for a grant to be made for a supply of gas to new industrial projects; and how many have been approved.

Only three such applications have been received. One was withdrawn, one was rejected, and the other is still under consideration.
