HC Deb 25 March 1974 vol 871 cc7-8W
Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a table showing the average weekly earnings of all categories of male manual workers over 21 years of age, including agricultural workers, at the latest available date.

Mr. Booth

The latest available estimates covering employees in all industries relate to April 1973 and were obtained from the New Earnings Survey. The figure for full-time manual men whose pay for the survey pay period was not affected by absence was given in my reply to the hon. Member's Question on 19th March.—[Vol. 870, c. 61.] Corresponding figures for other categories of manual men aged 21 and over are:

All full-time men who received some pay for the survey pay-period £37.0
All part-time men whose pay for the survey pay-period was not affected by absence £9.8
All part-time men who received some pay for the survey pay-period £9.7

"Part-time" means those expected to work for not more than 30 hours in a normal week, excluding main meal breaks and overtime.
