HC Deb 25 March 1974 vol 871 cc55-6W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many Commonwealth doctors are serving in general practice in Scotland; if he will express this as a percentage of the total; and if he will show how this compares with the past 10 years.

Mr. William Ross

At 1st October there were about 100 doctors who were born in Commonwealth or former Commonwealth countries providing general medical services in Scotland as unrestricted principals, 3.7 per cent. of the total. This compares with 78—3 per cent. of the total—at 1st October 1968, the earliest date for which figures are readily available.
