HC Deb 25 March 1974 vol 871 cc54-5W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what would be the cost of abolishing bridge toll charges in Scotland.

Mr. William Ross

Tolls collected at the Erskine, Forth and Tay road bridges in 1972–73 amounted to £2,268,000, which was offset by operating costs—including collection of tolls—of £584,000. The net receipts were applied towards the repayment of interest charges and outstanding capital debts.

Mr. Gordon Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will remove tolls from the Tay road bridge.

Mr. William Ross
