Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many Servicemen have been killed and seriously injured, respectively, while serving in Ulster; and what has been the casualty rate month by month in the past year.

Between August 1969 and 19th March 1974, 211 Regular Service men have been killed and 166 seriously injured in Northern Ireland. Forty-two members of the Ulster Defence Regiment have been killed and four seriously injured.

The figures for the last 12 calendar months are as follows:
